Jessie Fauset (1882-1961)
Jessie Fauset was born in Snow Hill New Jersey. He mother died when Fauset was a young girl. As she aged, she went to Cornell University where she graduated from there in 1905. She then began her work as an author in 1912 working for "The Crisis" magazine. From 1919 to 1929 she was the Literary journalist working under W.E.B DuBois. She became famous for her novels, which included The Chinaberry Tree, The Plum Bun and There is Confusion. She based the majority of her work on upper-middle class African Americans. She is considered to be one of the best woman authors of the Harlem Renaissance, and she not only wrote novels but she help find up and coming authors. Fauset died in 1961 due to heart failure.
