Zora Neale Hurston (1891-1960)
Zora Neale Hurston grew up in Eatonville, Florida. She was primarily a novelist, however, she also created several short stories including "Spunk" and "Sweat". Eatonville was the center of the majority of her work. Her best-known work was Their Eyes Were Watching God. Hurston's writing often used characters and legends based on Eatonville, as well - her work is notable for this. Her writing reflected her interests and life as an anthropologist. Zora Neale Hurston died in 1960.
